Project Details:
Nice Folky Things is an auto-ethnographic thesis project exploring the identity and culture of second-generation Americans through cross-cultural folk stories. Drawing on Central American folklore, the project remediates oral storytelling traditions into a suite of interconnected physical and digital artifacts: a 3D-printed figurine, illustrated packaging, and an augmented reality experience.

The mid-century American aesthetic was deliberately chosen as both a visual language and a conceptual provocation — camouflaging non-European heritage within a style historically coded as white Americana, and reclaiming it for an audience that has long been othered by mainstream media.
